FOBTOB'S AFFILIATION

FOBTOB has been very active within the organ of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), formerly SESCAN (the umbrella Labour Centre for Senior Staff in Nigeria).  Our immediate past National President, Mr Charles Ighalo (JP) was elected 1st Deputy President General of TUC at the 5th Triennial Delegates Conference held in Ijebu-Ode between 11th – 13th October 2000.  mr Bayo Abioye, the Association’s President before him was also a 1st Deputy President General of SESCAN having been elected at the 3rd Triennial Delegates Conference of SESCAN held on 30th January, 1997.  this position was also held by the National President before him, Chief Emeka Chinweze who was elected in April, 1992 at the 2nd Triennial
Delegates Conference.  Our immediate Past Executive Secretary, comrade Sola Iji, was the first Secretary-General of SESCAN between 2nd may, 1985 and 29th April, 1992.  our incumbent National President, Comrade G.T. Babalola is the present 1st Deputy President- General of TUC.  FOBTOB is determined to continue to make constructive contributions in promoting the objectives of TUC as a viable and relevant labour centre in our industrial relations system.

Our association is also affiliated to two Global Union Federations: Union Network International (UNI) and International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, tobacco and Allied Workers Associates (IUF), both based in Switzerland.  The Executive Secretary of the Association, Mr Ade A. Ola-Joseph is the Secretary of the UNI-Nigeria Liaison Council made of eleven (11) affiliates of UNI thus:
